Position Overview: The Commercial Lines Producer is responsible for identifying, prospecting, and securing new commercial lines insurance clients for the agency while nurturing and expanding relationships with existing clients.
Work Arrangement: This is a full-time, hybrid position reporting our office in Waterloo, IA.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Identify and research potential clients in the commercial lines sector through various channels such as networking events, referrals, online research, and cold calling. Build a strong pipeline of prospects and conduct thorough needs assessments to understand their insurance requirements.
- Present and promote a wide range of commercial insurance products and services tailored to the specific needs of clients.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to understand their changing insurance needs, ensuring retention and possible cross-selling opportunities. Provide exceptional customer service, offering prompt responses to queries and addressing any concerns or claims-related issues.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor offerings to stay competitive and up to date with the commercial lines insurance market. Utilize this knowledge to provide valuable insights and advice to clients during consultations.
- Collaborate with carriers and underwriters to negotiate favorable terms, premiums, and coverage options for clients. Strive to secure the most cost-effective and comprehensive solutions while maintaining profitability for PDCM.
- Ensure that all required documentation, paperwork, and policy records are accurately maintained and compliant with industry regulations and internal agency policies. Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive client information and records.
- Set and achieve individual sales targets, including new business production, revenue generation, and retention rates. Regularly analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement effective strategies accordingly.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous experience working in sales or at an Insurance agency (Required).
- High School Diploma/GED (Required).
- Obtainment and maintenance of Iowa Property and Casualty Insurance License (Required).
- 3 or more years of experience working in sales at a Property and Casualty Insurance Agency, preferably in the Commercial Lines Department (Preferred).
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field (Preferred).
- Possess a strong understanding of commercial lines insurance products, coverages, and underwriting principles.
- Possess a strong business acumen to understand financial metrics, industry dynamics, and the competitive landscape.
- Ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies aligned with business goals. Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics and identify areas of improvement within sales strategies.
- Proficient in analyzing client’s needs and recommending appropriate insurance solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information clearly and transparently.
- Experience in building and maintaining strong client relationships, understanding clients’ unique needs, and providing customized insurance solutions.
- Detailed-oriented and organized with excellent project management abilities.
- Strong critical thinking skills to analyze complex scenarios and develop solutions for clients.
- Familiarity and proficiency in using relevant software applications, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other tools used for client management and communication.
- Commitment to staying updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices through attending training programs, earning relevant certifications, and participating in industry conferences or webinars.
- Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and client information.
