Position Overview: The Manager of Employee Benefit Relationships will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and strengthening new and existing working relationships with key Employee Benefits (EB) carriers and General Agents (GAs). This role will be responsible for managing Patriot’s day-to-day national insurance company relationships with a focus on maximizing the value for Patriot, its partner agencies, and their clients through enhanced carrier support, expanded product access, and optimized compensation structures. In this position you will analyze carrier lineups across Patriot’s partner agencies—by product line, market segment, and industry focus—to identify opportunities for growth, consolidation, and improved profitability. The position will report to the Patriot VP of Carrier & Wholesale Relationships, and work closely with the Carrier Administration Team, our Agency Principals, and other internal stakeholders.

Work location and arrangements: The position is a full-time, fully remote position, with limited travel equating to 1-3 trips monthly (as needed) to our partner agencies’ offices, partner meetings and industry-related events.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Patriot Employee Benefits day-to-day national insurance company relationships
  • Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with key Employee Benefit (EB) carriers and General Agents (GA)
  • Partner with agency leaders to assess carrier alignment and identify opportunities to enhance market position, product access, and revenues
  • Support the negotiation of carrier and GA contracts, commission structures, and compensation agreements under the direction of the Vice President of Carrier & Wholesale Relationships, and with the President of Retail Insurance
  • Leverage data and technology to monitor carrier performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights and recommendations
  • Serve as a liaison between the EB entities and Patriot’s internal teams (Carrier Administration, Agency Growth, Compliance, and Operations) to resolve issues and improve collaboration
  • Facilitate onboarding of new Patriot partner agencies by providing access to Patriot’s EB carrier relationships and educating the agency teams on available partnerships and resources
  • Collaborate with carriers and GAs to enhance marketing support, training, and product education for all Patriot agencies
  • Maintain a current understanding of market trends, carrier initiatives, and competitive product developments in the EB space
  • Work with cross-functional leadership teams to support organic growth, margin improvement, and operational efficiency through innovation and process improvement
  • Collaborate with the TRUE Network of Advisors (TRUE) to maximize carrier relationships, optimize compensation, and ensure all decisions align with clients’ best interests
  • Drive innovation in benefits administration and delivery through technology and process enhancements, including support of the Patriot Center of Excellence benefits management platform

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in a business-related field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in Employee Benefits carrier management, broker relations, or agency operations
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits products, group and ancillary benefits, and the distribution channels
  • Experience analyzing carrier performance, compensation structures, and profitability
  • Strong financial acumen surrounding key drivers of agency financials and producer compensation
  • Proficient with use of Microsoft Office Suite tools, including Excel and financial functions useful in business (e.g. Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS, etc.)
  • Success with CRM, Agency Management Systems (AMS), and data analytics tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with success managing multiple priorities simultaneously and within budget
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strategic business relationships
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with ability to translate complex concepts into actionable plans
  • Ability to travel 1–3 times per month when necessary

Compensation range: A starting base salary in the $75,000 to $100,000 range, depending on a candidate’s experience.
