Director of Personal Lines (Hybrid)

Position Overview: The Director of Personal Lines will lead and manage the Personal Lines Client Services team, ensuring both new business growth and client retention. This role is responsible for coaching Account Managers, developing processes, maintaining client satisfaction, and driving revenue growth opportunities while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.

Work Arrangement: This is a full-time hybrid position reporting to our office located in Charlotte, NC.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and manage the Personal Lines Client Services team.
  • Set quarterly goals, develop strategies, and motivate the team to achieve objectives.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and establish/document standard operating procedures.
  • Manage new business processes, including quote timelines, underwriter negotiations, and workflow optimization.
  • Drive client retention with proactive renewal processes and a target retention rate of 90%.
  • Handle escalated client issues and oversee policy reviews, rounding, and referral generation.
  • Coach and train team members on system use, carrier appetite, and customer service best practices.
  • Ensure excellent client experience with timely call returns, follow-up protocols, and service standards.
  • Oversee team operations including hiring, training, performance reviews, incentive programs, and scheduling.
  • Participate in agency management activities such as meeting with carrier representatives, creating workflows, and tracking departmental metrics.
  • Manage a small book of business (10–15%) alongside leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in a similar leadership role.
  • Active Property & Casualty Agent License.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance products, markets, rating, and underwriting.
  • Familiarity with Applied EPIC or similar agency management systems preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
  • College degree preferred.
