Benefits Compliance Specialist (Hybrid)

Position Overview: The Benefits Compliance Specialist is responsible for serving as a trusted advisor to our clients, ensuring their compliance with various human resources regulations, and developing tailored human resources solutions to meet their unique needs. This position will play a critical role in enhancing The Olson Group’s clients’ processes, fostering positive workplace environments, and optimizing talent management practices.

Work Arrangement: This is a full-time, hybrid position with a possibility for remote work reporting to our office in Omaha, NE.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, conducting comprehensive HR assessments and diagnostics. Identify areas for improvement and provide strategic recommendations to address HR challenges and goals.
  • Assist clients in attracting, selecting, and retaining top talent. Offer guidance on recruitment strategies, job postings, candidate screening, interviewing techniques, and offer negotiations. Develop onboarding and talent development programs to maximize employee engagement and productivity.
  • Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and policy interpretation. Foster effective communication and ensure compliance with labor laws to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Conduct market analysis to determine appropriate salary structures and benefits offerings. Advise on incentive programs, bonuses, and rewards that align with business goals and enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks. Ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry best practices. Stay informed about relevant employment legislation and recommend necessary policy changes.
  • Identify training needs and design development programs to enhance employees’ skills and knowledge.
  • Assist with client service activities, including benefit enrollment, education, mid-year, and renewal meetings, when necessary.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and employment legislation to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 3 or more years of experience working in Human Resources
  • Proven experience as an HR Consultant or in a senior HR position.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment legislation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a similar field.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience working in Human Resources (Preferred)
  • Experience working in the Insurance industry, specifically employee benefits (Preferred)
  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources (Preferred)
  • Human Resources certifications (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP) (Preferred)
  • Possess a strong understanding of Human Resources, including compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, performance management, training and development, and employee engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey human resources information clearly and transparently with employees.
  • Proficiency using various software and tools, Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems, and other HR-related software.
  • Ability to identify areas of improvement and implement innovative solutions to optimize processes, streamline operations and workflow efficiency.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with excellent project management abilities.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, staying updated on HR trends, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.
