Position Overview: The Benefits Account Manager serves as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them navigate the complexities of employee benefits and insurance plans. This role focuses on building and nurturing client relationships, managing the entire benefits renewal process, and providing expert guidance on plan options and strategies. The position requires strong analytical skills to prepare and present accurate renewal analyses, as well as the ability to resolve claims and policy issues efficiently.

Work Arrangement: This is a full-time position. We are open to a remote, hybrid or an in-office work arrangement depending on business/candidate needs.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Develop insurance carrier renewal strategies tailored to client needs and objectives.
  • Create and analyze comprehensive renewal spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy.
  • Prepare and distribute renewal documents and marketing materials for open enrollment meetings.
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate client records and renewal notes in internal systems.
  • Conduct educational sessions, benefit surveys, and quarterly claims reviews for clients.
  • Assist clients in resolving claims issues, handling appeals and completing prior authorizations.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, coverage, and eligibility.
  • Process employee enrollments, terminations, and changes with carriers and vendors.
  • Develop tailored materials to communicate benefits information effectively to client employees.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Active Virginia Life & Health insurance license
  • 2 or more years of experience in a customer support or account management position within the Employee Benefits Insurance industry.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Possess an understanding of employee benefits programs, including knowledge of various benefit types, compliance with relevant regulations, and awareness of emerging trends and best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Proficient with use of Microsoft Office Suite and products
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong client relationships, understanding clients’ unique needs, and providing customized insurance solutions.
  • Detailed-oriented and organized with excellent project management abilities.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred
